William Stachura Obituary

William “Bill” Stachura, age 88, a lifelong resident of Harwick, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026. Born on August 23, 1937, in New Kensington, PA, to the late Joseph and Mary Stachura, Bill was a true cornerstone of his community—a man of deep faith, service, and an enduring love for his family and his Pittsburgh roots.

A 1955 graduate of Springdale High School, Bill went on to honorably serve his country in the United States Navy. Following his service, he dedicated 35 years as a machinist for Westinghouse Electric Company, where he worked until his retirement.

Bill was deeply woven into the fabric of his community. A lifelong member of Our Lady of Victory Church, his faith was central to his life. He was also an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), the American Legion, and the Knights of Columbus. Those who knew him well will remember his musical spirit; for years, Bill shared his talent playing the accordion in the Tady Band.

A lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan, Bill could often be found cheering on his beloved team or enjoying a round of golf with his family and friends—where he famously enjoyed the camaraderie of the “19th hole” just as much as the game itself. Beyond his hobbies, he will be remembered most for his sweet personality and compassionate heart; he truly never met a stranger he didn't treat with kindness.

Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 47 years, Gladys (Puleo) Stachura.

His legacy lives on through his daughters, Mary Jane (Timothy) Basilone and Deb Stachura; his grandchildren, Christina (Brent) White, Melissa (David) Lauteri, and Bret (Meagan) Basilone; and his six great-grandchildren, Cameron, Andrew, Alina, Luca, Gino, and Alessandro.

Friends and family will be received on Thursday, January 22, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Charles B. Jarvie Funeral Home in Springdale.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 23, at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Victory Church – Guardian Angels Parish. Burial with military honors will follow at Lakewood Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made online to Macular Degeneration Research or sent to BrightFocus Foundation, 22512 Gateway Center Drive, Clarksburg, MD 20871.
