William J. "Mac" McFarland lll, 73, of Springdale, passed away at home Saturday, May 8, 2021. He was born June 28, 1947, to his parents, the late William and Lorraine Jena McFarland, and had been a longtime member of the community. After graduating from Baldwin High School, he was drafted and proudly served in the Army during the Vietnam War. Mac was honorably discharged and then became an integral part of the family business, where he was co-owner of Tecklane Manufacturing in Springdale for 50 years. As his pastimes, he enjoyed golfing, skiing, boating and early morning trips to the casino, but especially relished time spent with his friends and family the most. Mac was a member of St. Alphonsus Church and the Springdale-Cheswick Lions Club. Surviving him are his fiancee, Janet Onufer; son, David John (Joelle) McFarland, of Springdale Township; daughter, Lori Anne Christie, of Lower Burrell; sister, Kathy (Dave) Saldutte, of Bethel Park; grandchildren, Kevin William and Ethan Lane McFarland and Cody James, Corey Mac, Colby Michael, and Colt Henry Christie; and nephews, Michael Saldutte, Todd Mentecki and the late James Mentecki. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Elaine Mentecki, beside whom he will be laid to rest. Friends are invited for his visitation from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 10, 2021, in THE CHARLES B. JARVIE SPRINGDALE FUNERAL HOME INC., 801 Pittsburgh St. All CDC guidelines are in place.
