Virginia S. Mattern

Virginia S. "Jeanne" Mattern, 72, of Harwick, and formerly of Bloomfield, passed from this world on Friday, Oct. 13, 2023, after suffering from a massive stroke on Oct. 6, 2023. Her loved ones are shocked and deeply saddened by this loss. She is survived by her loving husband, Pam/Pete; son, Christopher (Cheyane) Mattern; and daughters, Amanda (Raymond) Mattern and Connie (Matthew) Baker. She was the beloved Nana of Stephanie, Bethany, Alex, Alecia, Aden, Andrew and Tobias. Jeanne is also survived by her loving nieces, nephews, cousins, out-laws, and many other friends who became family. As a Navy wife, she supported Pete throughout their 26.5-year career moving to many diverse places. She loved working with children during the years of her at-home daycare business and remained connected with many as the children grew into adulthood. She will be remembered for her incredible vision and ability to conquer home renovations that resulted in warm, loving spaces to welcome all who stopped for a visit. Jeanne was also a master baker who created lasting memories by easily making delicious pies, birthday cakes, wedding cakes and more. Friends and relatives will be received from 2 to 4 and 5 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 16, at the CHARLES B. JARVIE FUNERAL HOME INC., 1607 Pittsburgh St., Cheswick, PA 15024, with a reception following at their home. If desired, memorials may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society.
