Ted Vuchinich

Theodore "Ted" Vuchinich Jr., of Cheswick, died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2022, at Amber Woods Assisted Living Facility, with his son at his side. He was born March 10, 1931, at home in Harwick, to Theodore and Lottie Vuchinich, the youngest of six children. He was a graduate of Springdale High School after which he enlisted in the Army and served stateside during the Korean War. Ted met Rosemary (Lou) Dubac at a dance at St. Clements Church before he enlisted; they eloped in 1953 and had 64 years together before her death in 2017. He was a talented electrician but also a jack-of-all-trades; we never knew there was such a thing as a repairman because he could fix anything. He worked at Edgewater Steel in Oakmont, retiring after 30 years. During the 1970s he served as the mayor of Cheswick. Ted was a devoted, loving and very proud father of Marlene (Michael) Van Buskirk and Ted Vuchinich III MD (Virginia Balderston MD). He was most proud of his five grandchildren, Sarah Rose Hill (fiance Paul Hutt), of Sydney, Australia, James Hill (Kendra) and Baby Hill due in January, Betsy, Ted and Jonathan Vuchinich. He instilled in all of us a foundation that included a strong work ethic and love for family. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Nicholas Vance, George Vance, Peter Vuchinich, Nellie Zelletz and Meg Vucin. We are so grateful for the loving care he received at Amber Woods Assisted Living Facility, where the staff went over and above to care for him and make him comfortable during his stay.
