Stephanie Ann Kayafas, 67, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2025. For the past 10 months she resided at Harmony at Harts Run, where she received compassionate and loving care. Before that, she lived for many years in Red Bank, New Jersey, a vibrant town she loved, just a short drive from the beach she held so dear.
Stephanie devoted her life to education, serving as a special educator and later as the Special Education Department Supervisor with the Freehold Regional High School District. She was a tireless advocate for her students, known for her deep compassion, and unwavering belief in the potential of every child. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched - students, families and colleagues alike.
Outside of work, Stephanie found joy and peace at the beach. The ocean was her sanctuary, a place of calm, reflection and happiness. She also loved staying active and could often be found at the gym, a place where she found energy, and a sense of well-being. Whether she was walking by the shore, the streets of Red Bank or lifting weights, Stephanie embraced life with strength and purpose.
Stephanie was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Helen Kayafas (2015) and Nick Kayafas (2017). She often spoke of them with deep love, and those who knew her well knew how much she looked forward to the day they would be reunited in heaven.
Her smile, her laugh, and her humor were truly contagious. She was the smartest and kindest friend to so many-generous with her heart, her time and her wisdom. Stephanie's warmth and wit lit up every room she entered, and her friendship was a gift treasured by all who knew her.
She will be remembered for her strength, her compassion, and the joy she brought into the lives of others. Stephanie's presence made the world a better place, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
A private memorial service will be held at Serenity Gardens in Largo, Florida, where her life will be honored in the peaceful setting she loved. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved parents.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the caring staff at Harmony at Harts Run and the wonderful team at Monarch Hospice for the exceptional care they provided to Stephanie in her final months.
