Shirley (Fogle) Sakala

Shirley L. Sakala, 92, of Cheswick, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2022, in Kittanning Care Center, where she was a resident for the last four years. She was born March 31, 1930, in Moundsville, W. Va., to her late parents, Fred and Mazie McCloud Fogle. She moved to Cheswick in 1955 and graduated from Ken-Hi Class of 1949. She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church in Harwick. Shirley liked helping with the children's liturgy class as well. Mrs. Sakala enjoyed walking, reading and going to craft shows with her daughter, Brenda. Survivors include her sons, Paul (Cindy) Sakala Jr., of Lower Burrell, and Dallas Sakala, of Arnold; daughter, Brenda Sakala, of Cheswick; granddaughter, Allison (Chris) Patterson, of Lower Burrell; great-grandchildren, Autumn and Claire Patterson; and special friends, Mary Margaret Mikus and Maryann Wilson. Besides her parents, she was preceded by her husband, Paul Sakala Sr.; four brothers, Keith, Fred Jr., Dale and Kenneth Fogle; and four sisters, Mazie Fogle, Dorothea Fogle, Nellie Bertoni and Juanita Torkeo. Friends will be received from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30, 2022, in THE CHARLES B. JARVIE CHESWICK FUNERAL HOME INC. 1607 Pgh. St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, 2022, in Our Lady of Victory Church of Guardian Angels Parish.
