Shirley Ann (Murray) Ansell, 83, of Springdale, passed away peacefully at home Thursday, Feb. 18, 2021, surrounded by her family. She was born Oct. 30, 1937, to Bernard and Martha (Antoninka) Murray. She was a graduate of Springdale High School and a lifelong resident of the Allegheny Valley community. Shirley married Robert Ansell Sr. in 1957 and they raised five children together. Shirley was a crafting enthusiast and made many beautiful quilts, as well as making many wonderful scrapbooks for her grandchildren. She passionately cheered on the Steelers during just about every game. She also adored and spoiled her fur baby (dog), Molly. Her most favorite activity, however, was spending time with her family. Shirley is survived by her husband, Robert “Bob”; children, Dennis (Heidi), of Cheswick, Thomas (Stacey), of Springdale, Susan, of Cheswick, and Joseph (Barbara), of Saxonburg; grandchildren, Tim (Melissa) Maloney, Daniel (Sarah) Ansell, Bethany (Bill) Henline, Christy, Ashley, and Brooke, Francesca and Josephina Ansell; great-grandchildren, Jesse, Ryan, Haley, Chelsea, Alexis, Alaina, Elizabeth and William; daughter-in-law, Bonnie (Robert) Maloney; sister, Kathy (Patsy) Difonzo; brother-in-law, Chuck (Soni) Ansell; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles, friends and neighbors. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Robert Ansell Jr.; and daughter-in-law, Loriann (Kuitunen) Ansell. Per Shirley’s request, services and interment are private for her family members. A celebration of her life will be announced at a later date when everyone is able to attend.
