Rodney Ervine Shrader, 89, of Springdale, passed away quietly the morning of Thursday, April 1, 2021, at UPMC St. Margaret. He was born Aug. 2, 1931, in Springdale, to the late Glenn and Ann Claypool Shrader. Rodney was a graduate of Springdale High School, a member of Springdale VFW and a steelworker at Allegheny Ludlum for 45 years. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Lou; granddaughter, Cassie; and sisters, Carol, Gloria and Gail. Rodney enjoyed a long retirement and spent his time between trips to camp, gardening, and his grandchildren. He is survived by his three brothers, Stanley, Quinton and Clinton; his six children, Kimberly, Terri, Michael, Grace, Mary and Rodney; grandchildren, Zachary, Samantha, Madison, Chelsea, Jacob and Sarah; and great-grandchildren, Skyler and Tyler. He was a great man and will be truly missed. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday April 5, at the CHARLES B. JARVIE FUNERAL HOME INC., 801 Pittsburgh St., where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, with burial next to his wife to follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
