Robert Siegfried Borland 96, of Cheswick went to be with his lord on June 3, 2025. Born on March 27, 1929 in Springdale. He lived a full and vibrant life, bringing joy and laughter to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. He cherished the friendships he made throughout his life. He shared 66 beautiful years with his late wife Emma (Yelochan) Borland, building a lifetime of love, laughter, and treasured memories. Surviving him are his son Paul Robert (Debby) Borland and beloved granddaughter Leah Grace Borland. Also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews. Mr. Borland was preceded in death by his parents, John Norris Borland and Inez Siegfried Borland, loving son; David Robert Borland on October 31, 2024. In addition, preceded in death by his siblings; sister’s Florence Evans, Edith Cooper and brother Jack Borland.
Robert honorably served in The U.S. Army during the Korean War, stationed in Germany. After his discharge from the U.S. Army he worked for Allegheny Ludlum (ATI) for 46 years until retirement in 1995. Bob was a member of the Shrine in Harmar where he worked for the Shrine Center for 26 years with his son David.
He was past president of Caravan #16. He was a 50 year member of Pollock Lodge No 502 Free and Accepted Masons in Tarentum. Mr. Borland belonged to Springdale United Presbyterian Church in Springdale for 95 years where he was baptized and handled the finances there for 65 years and always kept everything in order. He was a leader and follower of God. He was a board member for many years with the Allegheny County Children with Learning Disabilities. He was a founding board member of the Springdale Cemetery Association. He enjoyed riding his tractor, gardening, going to church and especially spending time in his community with his family and friends.
Friends will be received on Sunday June 8, 2025, from 1-6pm in THE CHARLES B. JARVIE SPRINGDALE FUNERAL HOME INC. 801 Pittsburgh St. Masonic service is set for 4pm. Sunday. Services will be held on Monday June 9th at 10am in the Springdale United Presbyterian Church, corner of Pittsburgh Street and School Street, by Pastor Dean Ward officiating. With burial to follow in Lakewood Memorial Gardens. Everyone is to please meet at church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Springdale United Presbyterian Church or the Springdale Free Public Library. Special thanks to the kindness and compassion of all the staff at North Hills Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center that took excellent care of Bob.
Be humble before God. Obey God Daily. Believe Jesus is your Lord and Savior. Follow Jesus daily. Listen and learn. Love unconditionally, pass the spirt forward to one another. With God, all things are possible.
