Richard C. Schreckengost

Richard C. Schreckengost, age 91, of Harmar, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 14, 2026, with his loving family by his side.

He was born on April 28, 1935, in Creighton to the late Lloyd and Emily (Mattern) Schreckengost. Richard was a proud graduate of the East Deer-Frazer High School Class of 1953. Following high school, he faithfully served his country in the United States Army in Korea from 1954 to 1956.

Richard was employed for many years with Jones Motor Trucking Company and later retired from Preston Trucking in 1996.

A devoted family man, Richard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He took immense pride in his family and was well known for keeping a meticulously manicured lawn.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Gloria (Nury) Schreckengost, and their five devoted sons and their families:

Rick (Theresa) Schreckengost; their sons, Jon (Robin) and their children Andrew, Abby, and Alex; Jeremy (Sarah) and their children Zoe, Avery, Parker, Emmett, and Zane; and Chad (Ashley) and their son Vincent.

Randy (Natalie) Schreckengost; their sons, Ryan (Kelly), and Josh (Amber) and their children Nora and Eli; and daughter, Raylee.

Brian (Tina) Schreckengost.

Todd Schreckengost; his daughter, Shaley (Austin) and their children Lincoln and Everley; and his son, Tylere.

Timothy Schreckengost.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his brothers, Merle, Floyd, James, Harold, Clarence, Melvin, and Harry, and his sisters, Bertha, Violet, Dolores, and Elva.

The family extends a heartfelt and special thank-you to Dr. Lech and the wonderful nursing staff at the Hillman Cancer Center for their compassionate care and support.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Richard's honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
