Richard Allen Reid

Richard Allen "Dick" Reid, 86, of Cheswick, passed away peacefully Monday, Aug. 14, 2023, at St. Margaret's Hospital, Pittsburgh, with his family by his side. Dick was born Jan. 8, 1937, in Perth Amboy, N.J. Dick was the son of the late Robert and Gladys (Hansen) Reid. He was a proud veteran of the Army Missile Battalion. While based in Pennsylvania, he met his wife of 64 years, Marlene "Babe" (Bossola) Reid. Dick was part owner of Bossola's Insurance in Cheswick, prior to his retirement. He was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, the Springdale Veterans Association and the Cheswick Golf League. Dick was an avid golfer and an instructor at CCAC. He boasts an unbelievable three hole-in-ones. He had a passion for passing on his knowledge and love for the game to the next generation. Dick was a Lower Valley Little League coach for his son Rick's team for many years. Dick's other hobbies included boating, bowling and crossword puzzles. He enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends who he has met from all over the world. Other than family, one of his biggest joys was visiting his house in Florida every winter. Dick is survived by his wife, Babe, of 64 years; two children, Carol and her husband, JP Sarsfield, of Springdale, and Rick and his wife, Victoria of Lakewood Ranch, Fla.; four grandchildren, Alexa (Jordan) Baird, Marissa (Benjamin) Slade, Jessica (Chandler) Miller and Stryker Reid; and two sisters, Linda (Robert) Zarenko and Bonnie Tompkins, all of whom were loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara (Reid) Pickney; twin brother, Robert (Ulla) Reid; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jim and Gerry Tomayko; and in-laws, Harold and Pauline Bossola. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, 2023, in THE CHARLES B.
