It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Richard (Rick) Petro, 52, of Springdale, Pennsylvania who passed away on September 30th, 2025.
Rick was born February 24th, 1973, in Pittsburgh, PA and loved all things black and gold. Rick was a beloved son to Carolyn Scaglione. He was preceded in death by his stepfather Vincent Scaglione.
Rick was husband of Bridget Petro. His love for Bridget was unwavering. Meeting as teenagers, they both knew their story wasn’t over. They got to have their dream wedding in 2018 with the beach as their background. Rick always made sure Bridget was shown how much she meant to him by his devotion and selflessness.
Rick was the ultimate family man. Rick was the best Daddy to Rachel Gordon (Michael) and Deanna Petro. He was always there when something needed fixed, when they needed help with their homework, and was always there to remind them to change their oil. Rick’s proudest role was being “Poppy” to his grandson Ethan Petro and made sure to tell everyone all about him.
Rick was happiest when he was surrounded by family: Debbie and Al Pulice, Brian and Maggie Grzandziel, Albert and Lyndsey Pulice, Elise and Nathan Woodside, Deanna and Derek Manley, Vinny Scaglione, and Linda Scaglione.
Nothing made Rick happier than spending time with his nieces and nephews: Johnna, Makenna, Morgan, Kennedy, Luna, Hadley, Gia, Van and godson Ryan.
Rick loved hosting holidays at his house, making sure everyone left with full stomachs. He used any excuse to use his smoker and barbecue as the “Smoke Master.”
Rick flourished in his career at Highmark, marking 29 years being the right-hand man in the IT department with his various roles within the company.
Rick was a MOPAR enthusiast. He recently got to check the Hot Rod Power Tour off his bucket list and drive his beloved Challenger on racetracks. He loved spending time with his friends that shared the same passion and attended many car shows and events that he could. He loved cars so much that he named his dog and forever companion Hemi.
Friends will be received Friday October 3, 2025, from 2-4 and 6-7:45pm in THE CHARLES B. JARVIE CHESWICK FUNERAL HOME INC. 1607 Pgh. St. where his service will start at 7:45pm.
