Richard T. Jarmul, 71, of Sarver, formerly of Allegheny Township, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, July 13, 2021, following a courageous battle against mesothelioma. He was comforted by Angela, his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 47 years, as well as his devoted daughters, Amy and Jodi, during his final days. Rich will be remembered by many as an outgoing and vibrant man, a passionate educator and an accomplished outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout Pennsylvania, especially Lake Erie and Colorado. Born in Cheswick, Rich was a graduate of Springdale High School, Edinboro University and the University of Pittsburgh, where he earned a master's degree in education. For 36 years, he worked as a teacher and administrator for the Allegheny Valley School District. Rich filled the days of his retirement with outdoor excursions alongside his hunting buddies, traveling to Naples, Fla., and appreciating nature by visiting Moraine State Park and walking on the Butler-Freeport Community Trail with his family. Most of all, he loved being a doting "Pappy" to his four grandchildren, Alyssa, Cameron, Claire and Madison, always "fussing" in the garden, baiting fishing hooks, offering a wildlife lesson and creating a new backyard challenge. Rich was preceded in death by his parents, Albin and Agnes Jarmul, and sister, Elaine Bidek. He is survived by his wife, Angela, daughters, Amy (Matthew) Smith and Jodi (Eric) Patterson, grandchildren, Cameron and Madison Smith and Alyssa and Claire Patterson, brother, James (Donna) Jarmul, sisters, Marsha Jarmul and Janet Grinder, mother-in-law, Josephine Libroth, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews. Per Rich's request, services and interment are private for his immediate family. Arrangements have been entrusted to CHARLES B. JARVIE CHESWICK FUNERAL HOME INC. 1607 Pittsburgh. St. Donations in Rich's name should be directed to the Butler-Freeport Community Trail at www.butlerfreeporttrail.org or P.O. Box 533, Saxonburg, PA 16056. www.jarviefuneralhome.com.
