Richard “Dick” P. Grotefend, 86, of Cheswick, passed away peacefully of Wednesday, April 17, 2024. He was born October 2, 1937, to the late Wallace and Marie Krisch Grotefend and has been a longtime member of the community. Dick was a proud veteran serving in the U.S. Army. After his discharge, he worked for AT&T International for over 35 years, and then Home Depot. Through his travels he had the opportunity to visit the Great Wall of China and many more exciting places. He was a licensed Ham Radio Operater since 1954 (call sign W3ABW) for 40 years. Surviving him are his wife of 52 years, Elizabeth Amelia Grotefend; son, Charles (Tracy) Grotefend; grandchildren, Stephanie and Joshua Grotefend, William Grotefend (Nicole Santilli-Grotefend); great-grandchildren, Cavin and Brayden Kindler. Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by his beloved son, Michael “Mickey” Grotefend. A viewing will be held Saturday, April 27, 2024, from 1-3 p.m. in THE CHARLES B.
