Regina M. (Petruna) Platt
May 22, 1923 ~ December 17, 2023 (age 100) 100 Years Old
Regina May Platt, lovingly called "Nana", passed away Sunday, Dec. 17, 2023, in Concordia of Fox Chapel, due to RSV. Though she lived for 100 years and seven months, and she didn't look or act her age. Regina was born May 22, 1923, in McKeesport, to her parents, the late John and Joann Kaminski Petruna. There is where she met and married her late husband, Bill, June 24, 1944, until his death. She lived in the home they built in Cheswick for more than 70 years. She was fortunate to not have to work outside the home. She referred to herself as a "Domestic Engineer." Though her husband owned and operated a restaurant, he came home each evening for dinner, a testament to her good cooking. Regina took great pride in her appearance, everything had to match. She often would wear stylish hats. Her family was of the utmost importance to her. A photo gallery of them donned the walls of her Concordia room. She was so thrilled and proud as her four-year-old great-granddaughter wheeled her to dinner this October at Concordia. Praying and reciting the rosary was a daily ritual. She had been a former member of St. Alphonsus Church/Guardian Angel Parish. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her generous and giving demeanor, especially the hugs. She was angelic, telling them to be careful and that she loved them. Surviving her are her daughter, Darlene (Peter) Duryea, of Cheswick; granddaughter, Stacee (Nathaniel) Wylie, of Austin Texas; great-granddaughter, Felicity; and great-grandson to be born next month. Besides her parents, she was also preceded by her husband of 45 years, Bill Platt, and her son, David Platt. The family wishes a special thanks to everyone at Concordia who lovingly cared for her and especially during her short illness. Friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2023, in Our Lady of Victory Church/Guardian Angel Parish, with burial to follow in Deer Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105. www.jarviefuneralhome.com.
