Pauline (Sevcik) Knurek

Pauline (Sevcik) Knurek, 96, of Springdale, passed away Friday Jan. 13, 2023, in UPMC St. Margaret. She was born June 29, 1926, to her parents, the late John and Anne Skripets Sevcik. Mrs. Knurek graduated from East Deer High School and was a longtime resident of the community. She worked for West Penn Power and most recently Westinghouse, where she eventually retired. A devout member of St. Alphonsus Church, she enjoyed cooking, drinking wine, reading the newspaper, swimming at Bouquet Park and shopping, and especially relished spending time with her family. Surviving her are daughters, Sandra (Dave) Kostewicz, of Springdale, and Sharon Hair and fiance, James Morton, of New Kensington; sister, Helen Spadaro, of Lower Burrell; four grandchildren, Mathew, Kayleen, Austin and Marissa; and son-in-law, Mike Hatfield. Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Kala" Knurek, in 2016; daughter, Sharla Hatfield; and one sister, Anna Marie Borbeck. Friends will be received from 9 to 9;45 a.m. Monday, Jan. 16, 2023,  in THE CHARLES B. JARVIE SPRINGDALE FUNERAL HOME INC., with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, following visitation in Our Lady of Victory Church of Guardian Angels Parish, Harwick, with burial to follow in Our Lady of Hope Cemetery. Special thanks to the staff at Harmar Village for all their caring support, and to Sylvia and Barb for the help at home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Guardian Angel Parish.
