Patricia M. (Bodick) Pizzella

Patricia Marie (Bodick) Pizzella, 85, of Harmar Township, died peacefully Monday, March 20, 2023. Patricia was born Oct. 8, 1937, in Russelton, to Joseph and Catherine (Musco) Bodick. Patricia graduated from Springdale High School in 1955 and received a nursing degree from Pittsburgh Hospital in 1959. She worked as a nurse before becoming a full-time homemaker. In 1958, Patricia married John Pizzella, and together had four children and 11 grandchildren: Christina Lelis (Gregory) and her children, Tyler (Kaley) Lelis and Emily Lelis (Mike Skraba); John Pizzella Jr. and his children, Trey Pizzella, Caroline Pizzella (Garrett McElwain) and Julia Pizzella; Mary Ann Smith (Robert) and her children, Jacob (Maria) Smith, Allison (Ryan) Grosik, Stephanie Smith and Samuel Smith; and Justin Pizzella (Kathy) and his children, Kristopher Pizzella and Lia Pizzella. She leaves behind two great-grandchildren, Scarlett Smith and Henrik Gregory Lelis. She is survived by her brother, Joseph "JoJo" Bodick (Evelyn). Patricia was a lifetime member of St. Pio Parish (formerly St. Francis of Assisi Parish), in Harmarville. She served many roles there including treasurer of the Christian Mothers and vice president of the Ladies Guild. She was also treasurer of a local Red Hats group and enjoyed card and bunco parties. Patricia had a passion for baking and was particularly noted for her exceptional cookie tables and her fabulous nut rolls and lady locks. Most important to Patricia was her love of God and her devotion to her husband and family. She was extraordinarily compassionate and put the needs of others above her own. This great character trait was a life lesson shared with her children and grandchildren. She was a great wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. In times of need, she was always there. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Helen Ravenda, and her son-in-law, Gregory Lelis. Mass of Christian Burial for Patricia and her husband, John, will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2023, in St. Joseph Church, 342 Dorseyville Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15215.
