Mary Ellen McKenna 87, of Cheswick, passed away Monday April 13, 2026, in Northland Heights Senior Living. She was born October 2, 1938, to her late parents Thomas and Mary Fahrbuechel McKenna and has been a lifelong resident of our community.
Mary graduated from St. Joseph’s High School in Natrona Heights as class valedictorian and later from Mount Mercy, now Carlow University with honors. She worked for Westinghouse Credit Corporation as a Treasury Analyst/Administrator for many years where she eventually retired.
Her love of animals, especially dogs, was unfounded. She was veracious reader and indulged in English mysteries and Science Fiction novels. She was a huge Star Trek follower and history buff as well. Mary Ellen enjoyed traveling, home entertaining on her porch and listening to Irish folk and classical music with her family and friends. Most importantly was her Catholic faith, that guided her through life.
Surviving her are sister Pat Mckenna and their Co-parented daughter Cindy McKenna as well as many cherished cousins and friends.
Friends will be received on Thursday April 16, 2026, from 2-4 and 6-8pm in THE CHARLES B. JARVIE CHESWICK FUNERAL HOME INC. 1607 Pgh. St. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by her cousin Fr. John McKenna on Friday the 17th in Our Lady of Victory/Guardian Angel Parish at 10am with burial to follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Frazer.
