Martin Ide Obituary

Martin Frederick Ide, 90, of Lower Burrell, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2023, in Cabot. Martin was born April 1, 1933, in Wilkinsburg, and graduated from Wilkinsburg High School. He was the son of Wilber and Pearl Ide. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Martin attended the Indiana State Teachers College and Duquesne University for music education and taught in the Allegheny Valley School District for 35 years. Martin was passionate about the things he loved and always liked to keep busy. He was an active member of the Springdale United Presbyterian Church and the choir director for 40 years. Martin enjoyed attending his high school reunions, camping with his family and friends, eating dinner "out" (on the porch), photography, cruises, campfires with the neighbors, carpentry, dad jokes, his blue canoe and their beloved cocker spaniels. Music was such a big part of Martin's life. He loved to spread his talents of signing and piano. One of his favorite joys was playing happy birthday on the piano to all his friends and family. Martin was preceded in death by his parents, Wilber and Pearl Ide, and he is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dolores Ide; daughter, Carol L. Ide (Cynthia Strittmatter), of Pittsburgh, Karen L. Heffley (Jeff), of Gibsonia; and granddaughter, Kaylee Heffley. The family would like to thank the staff at Concordia Lutheran Ministries for their care and friendship that they provided. Also, his new community of friends he found when Dolores and he moved to Highpointe at Rebecca by Concordia in their later years. A celebration of life in Martin's honor will be announced at a future date. Arrangements are entrusted to THE CHARLES B. JARVIE FUNERAL HOME INC., 801 Pittsburgh St.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Springdale United Presbyterian Church, in Springdale, Habitat for Humanity or a charity of your choice.
