Marion L. (Crawford) Metkler 96, of Springdale, passed away Wednesday May 3, 2023, after a lengthy battle with multiple sclerosis. She was born May 16, 1926, to her parents, the late George and Hazel Lenz Crawford and has been a longtime resident of our community. She graduated from Springdale High School, Class of 1943. Mrs. Metkler then attended Louise Salinger School of Design and then Grace Martin Business School, Pittsburgh. She worked for Springdale Borough for 20 years where she eventually retired. Marion was a member of First United Presbyterian Church, Tarentum, and former member of Springdale United Presbyterian where she was an original member of the craft group. She enjoyed working puzzles, sewing, watching her grandson play football, reading the bible, traveling and especially spending time with her family. Surviving her is her son, Gary (Nancy) Metkler, of Mars; daughter, Nancy Metkler, of Springdale, who was her primary caregiver for the past 26 years; daughter, Sally (Robert) Peregoy, of Lebanon; grandchildren, Lindsay (Troy) Metkler, Kimberly McCommon, David Worley, Daniel (Kasie) Worley and Zachary (Becky) Metkler; four great-grandchildren; niece, Linda (Larry) Tucker; great-niece, Kristin (Andy) Hurwich. Besides her parents, she was also preceded by her husband, August Metkler; brother, George Crawford; and sister, Helen LeBeau. Friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 7, 2023, in THE CHARLES B. JARVIE SPRINGDALE FUNERAL HOME INC., 801 Pittsburgh St., with her services to commence at 11 a.m. Monday, May 8, 2023, in First United Presbyterian Church, Tarentum, with burial to follow in Deer Creek Cemetery.
