Margaret F. Stopp

Margaret (Fiering) Stopp, 96, of Cheswick, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2023. She was born March 6, 1926. She was the last surviving member of her large family. Mrs. Stopp was a 1944 graduate of Springdale High School and longtime resident of our community. She belonged to Cheswick United Presbyterian Church, where she was a lifelong member. She enjoyed spending time at her cabin in Cook Forest, where she loved to ride her bike and go cross-country skiing. She was also an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed making clothes and working for the church bazaars. Surviving are her daughters, Marcia (David) Cook, of West Deer, Lauren (Edwin) Parsons, of Acme, and Leigh (Randy) Houk, of Bridgeville; grandchildren, Sarah (John) Batovsky, Patrick and Megan Parsons and Savannah and Emma Houk. Besides her parents, Mrs. Stopp was also preceded in death by her husband, W. Raymond Stopp, in 1994, and her many brothers and sisters. Services and interment are private for her immediate family. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Gardens beside her husband. Arrangements are under the direction of CHARLES B.
