Lorraine M. (Dietz) Vidra, 91, of Springdale, passed away early Monday morning, Feb. 27, 2023, at Vincentian Home, Pittsburgh, after a brief illness. She was born April 27, 1931, in West Natrona, to the late John and Rose (Antkoviak) Dietz. Lorraine was a 1949 graduate of Har-Brack High School, where she was a majorette. She attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, where she was a talented clothes designer, and designed and made her own fashionable clothes. After marrying Cyril C. Vidra in 1953, she was active in the community, and served as the president of the Springdale-Cheswick Junior Woman's Club in 1960-61. She was a talented painter and exhibited her dramatic oil paintings at art shows throughout Pennsylvania and the east coast. At various points, Lorraine served as a planning commissioner and as a city council member for the Borough of Springdale. Lorraine enjoyed bowling, golfing, country line dancing and traveling, and made numerous vacation trips to Florida and California to bask in the sunshine. She also enjoyed jaunts with family and friends to Atlantic City and Las Vegas, where she had fun at the casinos. Additionally, Lorraine worked as a realtor for approximately 10 years after raising her six children. Lorraine is survived by her children, Leslie Vidra (Jerry Ulrich), of Floyds Knobs, Ind., Stephen Vidra, of Cheswick, Robert Vidra, of Springdale, Lisa Vidra, of Hawthorne, Calif., Edward (Andrea) Vidra, of McCandless, and Lynne (Domenic) Pampena, of Ross; and her five grandchildren, Justin, Rachel, Martin, Nicole and Tom and her great-granddaughter Casey. She is also survived by her brother, John Dietz, of Cabot. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cyril, in 2003, and her sister, Sylvia Garzotto, in 2022. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 3, 2023, in the CHARLES B.
