Lillian Checkeye, 86, of Harwick, passed away Saturday, April 8, 2023, quietly in her sleep. Lillian was born at home in Arnold Nov. 17, 1936. Her late husband, Kenneth “Lyle” Checkeye, of Timblin, passed away in 2017. Lillian's parents were John Wardoclip and Mary Balanick Wardoclip and she was one of four children: John Wardoclip, of Arnold, Tillie Jedlowski and late husband, Edward, of Cumberland, Md., and Paul Wardoclip, who is married to Lois, of Leechburg. She is survived by her three children, Kenneth, James and Scott Checkeye. Kenneth is married to Diana Checkeye and were blessed with Lillian's two grandchildren, Alyssa and Maggy Checkeye, who reside in Western Maryland. Both grandchildren love music and arts and had the privilege of attending Barbara Ingram School for the Arts. Scott’s close friend, Crystal Rocheleau, cared for Lillain during the last few weeks and stood by her to keep her comfortable. Lillian worked for Western Pennsylvania National Bank in Arnold during the 1960s and continued through 2005, when she retired from a local Harmarville branch. She and her husband owned Checkeye LPG Carburetion of Springdale and Lillian took care of the bookkeeping until her diagnosis. Her son, Scott, now owns and operates their business. James is co-owner of Evelyn James Interiors of Pittsburgh and Kennth is a systems administrator in Frederick, Md. Lillian recently cared for her companion dog, Rosey, who struggled throughout her life. Her neighbors loved Lillian and said she was an amazing friend who went out of her way to comfort them when they struggled with life events. She wanted nothing more than to help others and to share her life with them. She loved cooking and enjoyed watching Joyce Myers on TV every week. Lillian will be missed by so many and compassion for others will live on through all her friends and family. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2023, in THE CHARLES B. JARVIE CHESWICK FUNERAL HOME, 1607 Pittsburgh St., where services will commence at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 13, with burial to follow in Union Cemetery, Arnold.
