Laura Zubal Obituary

Laura Mae “Lolly” Zubal, 93, of Cheswick, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2025, in her hometown.

Born on February 8, 1932, Laura was a lifelong resident of Harmar Township. She and her husband built their Hodel Street home in 1956 and lived their entire lives there. She graduated from Springdale High School and remained deeply connected to the area throughout her life.

Laura was a member of Hoboken Presbyterian Church and held her faith close to her heart. For over six decades, she was also a proud member of the Order of Eastern Star, Kittanning Chapter #277.

Known affectionately as “Lolly,” Laura had a personality that was both sweet and spicy. She had a beautiful smile and a signature wink that could light up any room. Her tender heart meant she would cry at the drop of a hat—an endearing quality that reflected her deep empathy and warmth.

Laura had many passions that brought joy to her life and those around her. She loved to cook and bake, filling her home – and many stomachs - with comforting food and delicious treats. A self-taught pianist who played entirely by ear, she brought music into the lives of those who knew her without ever having taken a lesson. She enjoyed puzzle books and trips to the casino but especially cherished playing BINGO—a favorite pastime that brought her much happiness over the years.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, Steve Zubal; her parents, Harry E. and Margaret Palmer; and her brother, Harry Palmer.

Laura is survived by her loving children: son Edwin Zubal and his wife Darlene; daughter Delores Eaton and her husband Ronald; sister Margaret Johnson and her husband Byrl; grandchildren Mikaela Zubal and Jason Eaton (fiancée Angie Hart); great-granddaughters Jayla Eaton and Everly Eaton; as well as many nieces and nephews who will remember her fondly.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Laura’s memory to Hoboken Presbyterian Church.

May Laura’s memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her. Visitation will be held on September 16, 2025, from 5:00 - 8:00 PM at Charles B.
