Josephine Marie Libroth

Josephine Marie Libroth, 93, of Springdale, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2022, surrounded by her loving children. Born May 21, 1928, she was the daughter of Samuel and Rose (Pillitteri) Libroth. Josephine was a graduate of Springdale High School, Class of 1946, and later employed by Edgewater Steel for 17 years. She enjoyed living in Springdale most of her life. Josephine's proudest accomplishment was her family. As a single mother, she worked tirelessly and found creative solutions to ensure her four children felt confident and loved. Josephine was a spirited and lively woman who was dedicated to creating wonderful experiences and precious memories for her family. Josephine's house was often filled with the smells of Italian cooking and the sounds of gathered family. She will be remembered for her dishes, her recipes, and her secret ingredients that were passed down through the generations, especially for her homemade marinara sauce. Besides cooking she enjoyed other hobbies, including planting flowers, crocheting, and of course, shopping for a good bargain. In recent years, she was delighted by visits and updates on her growing family and hosting her annual Fourth of July party on her porch to watch the Springdale fireworks. Survivors include her four children, Charmayne Pelusi, Angela (the late Richard) Jarmul, Arthur Sack and Samuel (Rachel) Sack; and seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored. In addition to her parents, Josephine was preceded in death by her brothers, John Libroth and Samuel Libroth; and her son-in-law, Richard Jarmul.
