John P. Jursa

John P. Jursa Jr., 87, of Springdale, passed away Friday, April 28, 2023, in UPMC St. Margaret Hospital. He was born Aug. 20, 1935, to his parents, the late John Sr. and Mary Pappan Jursa, and has been a lifelong resident of the community. Mr. Jursa graduated from Springdale High School, class of 1954. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served his country until his discharge. He later worked at Forbes Road Technical School, where he eventually retired. In his spare time, John liked to work word search puzzle books, watch sports, especially the Pittsburgh Pirates and swear. Surviving him are his wife, Annetta (Olszewski) Jursa; sons, Jan Jursa, of Springdale, and Christopher (Kacy) Jursa, of Washington; grandson, James Jursa; niece, Mary Lou Janow; nephew, Ernie Pulliam; as well as several great-nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by a niece, Bonnie Pulliam; brothers, August and Anthony Jursa; and one sister, Mary Pulliam. Memorial contributions may be sent to Animal Protectors of New Kensington, 730 Church St., New Kensington, PA 15068. Services and interment are private for his immediate family.
