Joann M. (Mackey) Hafera 70, of Harwick, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2024. She was born August 7, 1953, to her parents, the late John and Margaret (Buerkle) Mackey. Joann had been a lifelong member of the Springdale and Harwick community, most recently residing in Cambridge Manor, surrounded by beloved friends and neighbors. Joann was intelligent and creative, and highly enjoyed her career path as a technical writer for many years after graduating from Penn State University. Post retirement, she enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and spending time with her beloved dog Gracie. Joann was an amazing cook, and really enjoyed comforting her family and friends with food. She was an enthusiastic matriarch of the family, always interested in everyone’s lives and compassionately loved keeping everyone in the loop. Vacationing at Geneva on the Lake with her extended family every year to re-connect was a highlight of every summer. Joann loved living in Pittsburgh, especially the historical culture that diversified the city.
