Jared W. Schweitzer, 36, of New Kensington, formerly of Springdale, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2022. He was born March 8, 1985, to his late parents, Dale and Linda (Borland) Schweitzer. He graduated from Springdale High School in 2003 and worked for the Liquor Control Board for the past 14 years. Jared was a talented drummer who started drumming at the age of 10. He went on to be involved with concert, jazz and marching bands, where he was drum captain for four years. After high school, he was a drum instructor with the Renaissance Drum & Bugle Corps for six years. Jared was part of multiple bands over the last two decades and was most recently a member of the Gemtones. Jared enjoyed rocking out at concerts and traveling to see his favorite bands. He also enjoyed seeing movies on opening weekend, playing video games and spending time with his loved ones. Surviving him are his brother, Ryne Schweitzer; loving girlfriend, Crystal Sasinoski; stepfather, Dennis Duffy; uncle, Dan "Puff" Borland, aunt, Susan (Jerry) Klingenberg, uncle, Timmy (Diana) Borland, and aunt, Patti (John) Dickens; as well as many loving cousins and friends. Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by his uncle, Jack Borland, and aunt, Gayle Prasnikar. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2022, in the CHARLES B. JARVIE SPRINGDALE FUNERAL HOME INC., 801 Pittsburgh St., where services will commence at 7:45 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be private. His family requests that attire is kept casual or wear your favorite band t-shirt to honor Jared's passion for music.
