Gladys Sarah Zimmerly of Springdale passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her children on July 21, 2025, at the age of 97. Gladys was born on March 9, 1928, to the late Anthony and Ursula Vasiliauskas Muroski.
Gladys was an active member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Creighton. She happily peeled potatoes alongside her husband, Bud, for the Parish Fish Fry. Gladys loved her family and showed it often through her cooking, especially with her son, Albert. Gladys loved flowers. She worked at Peterson’s Greenhouse and took great pride in her flower beds. She was dedicated to the success of the family business, Springdale Floral & Gift Shop; tirelessly helping clean flowers and bookkeeping.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Albert John “Bud” Zimmerly, her brother Anthony Muroski, and sisters Lillian Muroski, Helen Gladowski, Mary Mojack, and Irene Rutka.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra (John) Davitt and son, Albert Zimmerly, Jr. both of Springdale; four grandchildren: Sarah (Joel) of Spokane, WA, J.P. of Pittsburgh, Scott of Washington, and Alyssa (Justin) of Wexford; and six great-grandchildren: Norah, Grace, Easton, Ava, Jack, and Adeline; and numerous other loving relatives.
Friends and family will be received on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, from 3:00PM – 7:00PM at Charles B. Jarvie Funeral Home Springdale 801 Pgh. St. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at 10:00AM at St. Mary of Czestochowa Catholic Church New Kensington, PA. Parting prayers 9:30am in the funeral home. Gladys will be buried next to her husband at Mount Airy Cemetery.
