Eleanor L. Verner, 86, of Springdale, passed away Thursday, June 8, 2023, with her son and daughter-in-law at her side. She was born Oct. 15, 1936, to her parents, the late Albert and Agnes Slomkoski Caruso. Mrs. Verner graduated from Ken-Hi School and was owner/operator of Verner's Paint Center for more than 35 years, where she eventually retired. She was the first woman and past president of The Springdale Businessmen's Association, as well as the first female to administer the Hunting Safety Course at the Springdale Sportsman's Club. Eleanor was a member of Springdale United Presbyterian Church, where she was an elder as well as a Sunday school teacher and former president of the Eastern Star. Surviving her are her son, Arden H. (Andrea) Verner Jr.; grandson, Arden H. Verner III; granddaughter, Melissa Verner; great-granddaughter, Nicole Verner; and sister, Frances Hickey. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by her son, Randy Verner; sisters, Alberta Smith and Cecelia Cantine; and one brother, Thomas Caruso. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2023, in THE CHARLES B.
