Edwin "Ted" Shaffer, 84, of Indiana Township, born in Hawthorne, Pa., passed away Friday, Aug. 27, 2021, surrounded by his family. He was the son of the late John and Mary Ellen Yarger Shaffer. Ted was a retired police officer from Indiana Township. He was a member of St. Joseph, Christ the King Parish, the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge Masonic Maison Scottish Rite and Blue Lodge. He was great with the younger generation on the police force; they all called him "Uncle Ted," even to this day, as they now are all grown men and women. Ted was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a craftsman of all crafts; there wasn't anything Ted could not fix. He loved hunting, fishing, golfing and making his home beautiful. Most of all, he loved his family. He will be greatly missed by all. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and adoring wife of 64 years, Audrey Ann (Gasper) Shaffer; daughter, Linda (Oscar) Masci; son, Ted (Marilyn) Shaffer; granddaughters, Audrey Marie (Kirk Vandenbord) Masci, Ashley (Dan) Munsch, Morgan (Ryan) Hanley and Rachel Shaffer; stepgrandchildren, Jesse (Kelsey) and Nicholas Kalpakis; great-grandchildren, Addison, Avery and Austin Munsch and Oscar and Oliver Vandenbord; sister, Sharon Roberts, of Phoenix Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Rosemary Shaffer; and infant brother, John. Friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2021, in Christ The King Parish, St. Joseph Catholic Church, 342 Dorseyville Road, 15215.
