Donald L. Miller Sr., 96, of Harwick, passed away Friday, Feb. 18, 2022, in H. John Heinz Veterans Medical Center, Aspinwall. He was born July 17, 1925, to his parents, the late Leo and Ruth Yount Miller, and had been a lifelong resident of our community. He served in the Army during World War II in the South Pacific with Company C- 85th Chemical Battalion, earning two Purple Hearts and seven Bronze Stars. After his honorable discharge, he owned and operated The Commercial Hotel in Tarentum for 40 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and racing his horses but always cherished time with his family. Surviving him are his daughter, Lori (Mark) Acree, of Ohio; daughter, Leslie (John) Clark, of Michigan; son, Don (Jean) Miller Jr., of Freeport; daughter, Shelley (Kevin) McCauge, of Michigan; two sisters, Eileen Kremer and Luella Harpster; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann (Rayburg) Miller, in 2021; brother, Bernard; and two sisters, Anne Janovick and Betty Wenskovich. A private service and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, 2022, at in Our Lady of Victory Church, Guardian Angel Parish. Burial will be private.
