Diane (Shaner) Strand, 65, of Cheswick, formerly of Pittsburgh, passed away peacefully at The Willows of Oakmont, Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2023. She was born Dec. 31, 1957, in Harrison Township, to parents Howard and Carole Shaner. She graduated from Springdale Junior-Senior High School in 1975 and attended Seton Hill University. She had a successful career at Mellon Bank before starting her family and was later employed by and retired from Curtiss-Wright Corp. Diane was a joyful person who had an infectious laugh. She enjoyed going to the movies and concerts, taking care of her pets, and vacationing with her family. She was tragically diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's Disease several years ago. During her time living at Woodside Place in Oakmont, she was known for her fun spirit, singing, and dancing to music, and enjoying visits with friends and family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Strand, in 2000; her father-in-law, Roland Strand; and her father, Howard. She is survived by her only child, Quinn; her mother, Carole; her sister, Peggy (Joseph) Grumski; brother, William (Diana) Shaner; sisters-in-law, Lauren (David) Jarroll, Robin (Tony) Sarno and Jodi (Larry) Barlow; mother-in-law, Jean Strand; and her nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and grand-nephews, who all loved her and will miss her very much. The family wishes to thank the excellent staff of Woodside Place, where Diane resided for more than three and a half years, and The Willows Woodside Garden, where she has lovingly been kept comfortable and content for the past 14 months, and extended thanks to the many folks at Bridges Hospice who doted on Diane in her last months. A private interment will take place at a later date for the family at Lakewood Memorial Gardens in Cheswick.
