David R. Borland

David R. Borland, 64, of Cheswick, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, October 31, 2024. David was born on March 27, 1960, to his parents Robert S. Borland and the late Emma J. Borland. He had been a lifelong resident of Cheswick. He attended the D.T. Watson Institute in Leetsdale, PA and graduated from The Sunrise School in Monroeville, PA. He worked for many years at the Murphy’s Mart and Ames Department stores in Harmarville. David was one of the initial employees of the Syria Shrine. He retired in 2020. Mr. Borland was an active member of the Springdale United Presbyterian Church, a lifetime member of the American-Slovenian Citizens Association of Harmar Township and a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He had a nickname, “The Mayor of Cheswick”, because he took his daily walks around town and talked to everyone. He always knew the latest news in town. He was a car enthusiast and loved showing his 1969 Oldsmobile 98 and his 1972 Chrysler Newport at numerous car shows and parades. He was so proud of the trophies he won at car show. He especially loved listening to polkas and going to Pirate games. He will be dearly missed by many. Surviving him are, loving and dedicated father, Robert S. Borland, loving and dedicated brother Paul R. (Debra) Borland and adored niece Leah G. Borland. As well as many dear cousins and friends. Family and friends will be received on Sunday, November 3, 2024 from 2-6 pm. at the CHARLES B. JARVIE SPRINGDALE FUNERAL HOME INC., 801 Pittsburgh Street, Springdale, David’s funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 4th at 10 am, in the Springdale United Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Dean Ward officiating. Please meet at the church. Burial will follow at Lakewood Cemetery, Dorseyville, In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in memory of David to: Springdale UP Church, P.O.
