Betty Kozlowski Shoemaker passed away on June 27, 2026, at the age of 98 after a brief illness. Born on October 21, 1927, in Tarentum, she lived her life in the Alle-Kiski Valley.
Her home was her hobby, and she spent many hours on Do- It-Yourself projects before DIY became trendy. She was ahead of her time in many ways, and her interests didn’t revolve around what was considered at the time traditional roles for women. She could install new flooring, refinish furniture, do carpentry work, install a window and repair concrete to name just a few.
She is survived by her children Linda Shoemaker Roos, Patrick Shoemaker and Carol Jo Shoemaker (Rick) Huhn, grandchildren Benjamin (Erin) Roos, Adam Roos, Sarah Shoemaker (Matt) Wilson, Eric (Karen) Huhn and Laura Huhn (Patrick) Brown, six great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson.
She was proceeded in death by her husband John C. Shoemaker, brothers Joseph Brzozowski, Henry Kozlowski-Krenn, sisters Mary Sternagel, Veronica Rolls, Helen Wasilowski, Sophia Papso and Jean Arabia.
She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by those who knew her. Per her wishes, a private celebration of life will be held at a later date. The family wishes to thank Monarch Hospice and Rosebrook Senior Living for their care and dedicated support.
