Obituary

Barbara Lee Ometz, 79, died peacefully in her sleep at Arden Courts in Monroeville on Tuesday,

May 3, 2022. She was born August 11, 1942 in Indianola and was the daughter of the late James Ernest and Leona Frances (Herbert) Livingston.

 

A life-long resident of Indianola, Barbara had a very loving and generous heart. She was always

there to help anyone in need whether they were family, friends, or neighbors. Often visiting

and checking on the elderly, Barbara was a loyal and faithful friend who was always ready to

make sure that no one was lonely, hungry or in need of help. She was a loving and devoted

wife, mother, and grandmother. Barbara was immensely proud of her family, and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories.  She was happiest when surrounded by her children and grandchildren and will be deeply missed by all of them.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Edward Ometz in

1992. She was also predeceased by her son, Derrick Jon Ometz, daughters Diana Ometz Boland

and infant Darcine Ometz.

 

Surviving are her sons Denny (Deborah) Ometz of Ellicott City, MD, Duane (Audra) Ometz of

Springdale, David (Lora) Ometz of Manassas, VA and Darin (Katie) Ometz of Oradell, NJ. She is also survived by daughter-in-law, Allison Ometz of Mechanicsburg. Also surviving are her brothers Robert (Virginia) Livingston of Belton, TX and James (Maureen) Livingston of Natrona Heights. Her surviving grandchildren include Britney (Ben Demsky) Ometz, Alexia (Seth) Brewster, Joshua Boland,

Rachel, Elijah, Daniel and Clarissa Ometz. Additionally, she is survived by many nieces,

nephews, neighbors and friends.

 

Arrangements are entrusted to the Charles B. Jarvie Funeral Home in Springdale. A private

burial service will take place at Lakewood Memorial Gardens, Indiana Township. The family

requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, alz.org.
