Arlene Kathryn Huss (Zellefrow), age 90, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2025, in Sarver, Pennsylvania. Born on April 2, 1935, in New Kensington, Pennsylvania, Arlene was the daughter of Roy and Emma Zellefrow Sr. She was raised in a close-knit family alongside her siblings and carried the values of compassion and dedication throughout her life. Arlene pursued a career in nursing, graduating from the Citizens School of Nursing. Her commitment to caring for others led her to a long and fulfilling career as a registered nurse at Allegheny Valley Hospital (AVH), where she served with distinction until her retirement. Her work touched countless lives and reflected her deep sense of responsibility and empathy. A woman of Presbyterian faith, Arlene found strength and guidance through her beliefs. She was a devoted wife to her late husband, John P. Huss Sr., and together they built a loving family that became the center of her world. She is lovingly remembered by her children: Debbie (Greg) Shockley, Kimberly (Ralph) Orait, John (Amy) Huss of Springdale, Rochelle (Salvatore) Conte, and Brian (Sharon) Huss of Cheswick. Arlene also leaves behind her brother Donald (Myrna) Zellefrow, 16 grandchildren, and 30 great-grandchildren who will carry forward her legacy with pride. Arlene was preceded in death by her beloved husband John P. Huss Sr. parents; Roy (Emma) Zellefrow Sr. brothers Reese Zellefrow and Roy (Emma) Zellefrow Jr.; sister Malvina Zellefrow; grandson James A. Shockley. In addition to her professional accomplishments and devotion to family, Arlene enjoyed many hobbies that brought joy to her life. She loved building puzzles, gardening, crocheting, needlepoint, playing bingo, and cheering on her favorite baseball team—the Pittsburgh Pirates. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Rosebrook facility and Monarch services for their compassionate care during Arlene’s final days. May Arlene’s memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her. Friends will be received on Tuesday, December 23 from Noon until a funeral service will be held at 2 pm at the CHARLES B.
