Alfred L. Petroff, 73, of Harmar Township, passed away at home Monday, Sept. 24, 2018, after a 10-month battle with non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. He was the son of the late Paul and Helen Spakoff Petroff and was a lifelong resident of the Valley. Mr. Petroff served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War. He retired from the Department of Defense in 1995 and had 20-plus years in the Pennsylvania National Guard, retiring as CWO3 warrant officer. He was a member of Crosspointe Church in Harmar. Al enjoyed spending time at his camp in Newmansville, where he loved to hunt, fish and garden. Surviving him are his loving wife of 50 years, Vivian Musco Suprano Petroff; son, Paul J. Petroff, of Cheswick; daughter, Cory Lynn Gober, of Georgia; grandson, Joseph Alfred Gober; and sisters, Phyllis Martin, of Mars, and Arlene (Larry) Dupaine, of Natrona Heights. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin Petroff, and a sister, Frances Crivaro. Friends will be received from 9 a.m. until services at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, in THE CHARLES B. JARVIE CHESWICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1607 Pittsburgh St., where services will commence.
