Aime Girard Obituary

The family of Aime R. Girard, affectionately known to all as "Dude," is deeply saddened to announce his passing on July 8, 2026. He left this world peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on June 16, 1935, in Springdale, Pennsylvania, Aime lived a full and remarkable life defined by hard work, unwavering devotion to his family, and a boundless generosity of spirit.

A master carpenter by trade, his leadership and dedication led him to rise through the union ranks to become a respected Business Agent. He will be long remembered by countless workers for his mentorship, guidance, and fierce solidarity. Beyond his career, Aime was a man of many passions; he found immense joy in golf, cooking, gardening, and history. Above all, he cherished the simple pleasure of gathering, storytelling, and laughter with those he loved.

His legacy of love will be deeply missed and forever cherished by his companion of 23 years, Cathy Mowery; his daughter, Amy Lou Brothers; and his stepdaughter, Arnall Cox and brother Joseph (Donna) Girard. He also leaves behind a vibrant legacy in his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will always hold dear their precious memories with their beloved Jidu/Pap.

He was reunited in death with his parents, Aime Girard, Sr. and Virginia Capareli; his wife, Delores Hajel; his brothers, Thomas, and Phillip Girard; his son, Ronald Girard (survived by Lori); and his stepson, Thomas Cox (survived by April).

At Aime’s request, there will be no public viewing or funeral service. The family extends their deepest gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Shadyside Hospital, as well as the staff at UPMC Family Hospice, for their exceptional compassion and tender care in his final days.

In place of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in his memory to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation

Aime, Dude, Father, Uncle, Jidu, Pap & Friend: We carry you in our hearts with endless love and gratitude for the lasting impact you made on our family and everyone who knew you.
