Samuel C. Libroth, 85, of Harwick, passed away Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018, in UPMC St. Margaret. He was the son of the late Samuel and Rose Pillitteri Libroth and was a lifelong resident of the community. After high school, Sam served his country in the Army, where he was honorably discharged. Sam graduated from Springdale High School, class of 1951, as well as the University of Pittsburgh, and later worked for Westinghouse in Monroeville, where he eventually retired after 39 years of service. He enjoyed golfing with his friends, playing softball, gardening and watching college sports on television. Sam belonged to the Allegheny Valley Fire Department and the Springdale VFW. Surviving him are his beloved wife of 62 years, Dorothy Mrakich Libroth; daughter, Janice (Neal) Ciorra, of Apollo; sister, Josephine Libroth, of Springdale; brother, John Libroth, of Florida; grandchildren, Mark (Kelly) Ciorra, of Cranberry, and Jeffrey Ciorra, of Apollo; two great-grandchildren, Reagan Miksch and Geno Ciorra; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by a granddaughter, Jennie Ciorra, in 1998. His family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8, in THE CHARLES B. JARVIE SPRINGDALE FUNERAL HOME INC., 801 Pittsburgh. St. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, in Our Lady of Victory Church, and entombment will follow in Deer Creek Cemetery.
