Melvin A. Tomayko, 91, of Springdale, passed away Sunday, Oct. 21, 2018, in Concordia Good Samaritan Hospice. He was born Jan. 4, 1927, in Superior, Pa., to his parents, the late Max and Ann Herstek Tomayko, and had been a lifelong member of the community. Mr. Tomayko worked for PPG Industries, Creighton, for 25 years, where he eventually retired. Mel was a member of St. Alphonsus Church in Springdale and a life member at the Verona Eagles. He enjoyed gardening, watching all of the Pittsburgh sports teams and especially spending quality time with his family. Surviving him are his loving wife 66 years, Anna Mae Mydock Tomayko; son, Kenneth and his wife Diane Nagy Tomayko, of Natrona Heights; two grandchildren, Tyler and Kali Tomayko; one great-grandchild, Jace; brother, Thomas Tomayko, of Zelienople; sister, Dorothy Kuhn, of New Kensington; as well as nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Raymond Tomayko, and three brothers, Max, Carl and Emil Tomayko. His family invites friends for visitation from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, at CHARLES B. JARVIE SPRINGDALE FUNERAL HOME INC., 801 Pittsburgh St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, the 24th, in St. Alphonsus Church, and burial will follow in Lakewood Memorial Gardens.
