M. Louise Vandenberg, 94 years, McCandless, formerly of Springdale, went to her eternal reward on Friday December 14, 2018. She was formerly a Sister of Divine Providence known as Sister Rene. Louise was the daughter of August and Louise DeValkeneer Vandenberg. She was born in Springdale and was a member of St. Alphonsus Church. For many years, Louise served as an Elementary teacher and Principal in schools in the Diocese of Pittsburgh in the neighborhoods of Duqusne, Sharpsburg, Castle Shannon, the Hill District, Larimar, Beaver Falls, Springhill and at Toner Institute. Louise earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Duquesne University. Surviving her are nieces and nephews Jeanette (Steve) Burford of OK., James (Staci) Foulks of AZ. And Daniel (Samantha) Foulks of TN. Besides her parents, Louise was also preceded in death by her brother, Joseph. Visitation will be from 5-7pm on Monday December 17, 2018 in THE CHARLES B. JARVIE SPRINGDALE FUNERAL HOME INC. 801 Pgh. St. and on Tuesday the 18th from 9am to 10:45am at Providence Heights. Mass of the Ressurrection will be celebrated at 11:00am in the Mother of Divine Providence Chapel, 9000 Babcock Boulevard, Allison Park, Burial will follow in Deer Creek Cemetery, Harmar.
