Elizabeth V. (Hunchar) Stariha

Elizabeth Virginia Stariha, 84, passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2017, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital.  She was born on September 7, 1932, daughter of the late John and Susan Hunchar, and was a lifelong resident of the Alle-Kiski Valley.  Mrs Stariha formerly worked at Gulf Corporation in the Geophysical Research Lab and, after raising her family, started her own business as a seamstress for several interior decorators and businesses.  She was a devoted member of Holy Family Church in Creighton.  She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, and playing bridge.  She especially enjoyed being with her children and grandchildren.  Her family is grateful to the staff at Amber Wood at Harmar Village Care Center for their kindness and compassion. Mrs Stariha was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald.  Surviving Betty are her four children:  Michael (Resa) Stariha of LaSalle, IL, Monica (Michael Dombrowski) Stariha of Whitefish Bay, WI, Nadine (James) Petrone of Frazer Twp., and Ronald (Rhonda) Stariha of Leechburg, and grandchldren Sarah Stariha, Jillian Stariha, Lydia Stariha, Daniel Stariha, Ryan Petrone, Jake Stariha, and Erica Stariha.  She will be sadly missed by friends and family.

Friends and family will be welcomed on Friday August 25, 2017, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm in THE CHARLES B. JARVIE SPRINGDALE FUNERAL HOME INC. 801 Pgh. St. where a blessing service will commence at 10am Saturday morning.  Burial will follow in Deer Creek Cemetery beside her husband Ronald.  Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Amber Woods at Harmar Village Care Center 715 Freeport Rd. 15024
