Crell N. Miller

Crell Miller, 89, a longtime resident of Springdale, died peacefully Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018. He was born March 11, 1928. In 1949, he married the love of his life, Alvera Londino, and together they built a beautiful life raising three daughters. He lovingly cared for her through her illness and continued to keep her memory alive after her passing. Crell was a trumpet player in the marching band and proudly served his country in World War II. After his retirement from PPG, Crell enjoyed many activities, including gardening, watching westerns and bowling. He was a lifelong member of the Springdale VFW. He loved listening to Big Band music and was also an avid Penguins fan. By far, Crell took the biggest pride in his family - he was his children and grandchildren's biggest fan and never missed a sporting event or recital. His great-grandchildren called him "Big Pap" and he loved hearing about their antics. Crell was preceded in death by his wife Alvera and is survived by his brother, Donald Miller (Sylvia); his daughters, Karen Rehner, Kathy Crissman and Kimberly McPherson; son-in-law, Art Rehner; grandchildren, Art Rehner (Abby), Kara Smeltzer (Samuel) and Thomas McPherson; as well as six great-grandchildren, Arthur, Norah, Cecily, Eloise, Landon and Vera. He leaves a legacy as a family man and will be remembered fondly by all who knew him. His family will receive friends from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018, at CHARLES B. JARVIE SPRINGDALE FUNERAL HOME INC., 801 Pittsburgh St. Springdale VFW service will be at 7 Wednesday evening.
