Lorraine Elizabeth (Martin) Trempus, 81, passed peacefully into Heaven, surrounded by her family, Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2024, after a courageous battle against cancer. Lorraine was born Sept. 21, 1942, and was a lifelong resident of the Springdale/Cheswick area. A 1960 graduate of Plum High School and a graduate from Robert Morris Business School, Lorraine was employed by Giant Eagle Corp. Here, she pursued a career as a buyer assistant and earned several Presidential Awards and recognitions during her 28 years of employment. Lorraine loved her role as a mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and sister-in-law, and friend to many. She dedicated her life unselfishly to her family. She is especially proud of her five children and their families. Lorraine was an avid traveler. She loved vacationing in tropical locations and spending time with her family in Atlantic City and Las Vegas. Lorraine enjoyed hobbies such as crocheting, painting, reading, bird watching out her window, and caring for her dogs, Bear and Bruno. Lorraine was a faithful woman, attending Mass every Sunday. She was a member of St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, now known as Guardian Angels Parish, Cheswick. She is survived by her five children, whom she loved endlessly and unconditionally, Lisa (Bill) Arnold, Rachel (Sam) Sack, Nick (Becky) Trempus, Jennifer (John) Misencik and Jessica (Josh) Griggle. Lorraine is also survived by her loving companion, Rudy Svitek, of 25 happy and loving years together; one brother, Joseph Martin; as well as 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Lorraine's memory will be cherished and carried on by her family. Lorraine was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 30 years, Nick Trempus Jr.; her sister and best friend, Dolores Cowfer; parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Martin; and, most recently, her loving son-in-law, Josh Griggle. Her family will receive friends from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23, 2024, in THE CHARLES B. JARVIE SPRINGDALE FUNERAL HOME INC., 801 Pittsburgh St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, in Our Lady of Victory Church/Guardian Angel Parish, with burial to follow in Deer Creek Cemetery.www.jarviefuneralhome.com.
