Frank Alexander Mento, 86, of Valencia, passed away peacefully Friday, April 5th, 2024, at his home with his wife and family by his side. Frank was born June 30th, 1937, in Acmetonia, Pa. Frank was the son of the late Frank and Tillie (Gentile) Mento. Frank graduated from Springdale High School and taught in the school district for 37 years and coached soccer. He was a graduate of IUP and received a master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh and served in the Army for six years. He was a huge supporter of Pitt and had to rival all of his Penn State family members. He belonged to Hillcrest Country Club where achieved his hole in one and River Forest Golf Club. He was also a member of the Cheswick Golf League. His life was filled with days watching his grandsons play many sports where he rarely missed a game. He was so proud of his granddaughter Chelsea who followed in his footsteps of teaching. Frank enjoyed playing Scrabble and cards with his friends and family. Frank loved a good Manhattan and partying with his friends of old and new. He enjoyed taking cruises and trips to Europe. Frank was a witty and intelligent person and loved to read a book a day. Frank is survived by his high school sweetheart and his wife of 63 years Helen (Misutka) Mento who was the love of his life and he nicknamed Doveness; two children, Frank and his wife Joyce, of Cumming Geogia, and Lori and her husband, John Kowalkowski of Mars, Pa; three grandchildren, Chelsea Mento, Jonathan Kowalkowski, Tyler Kowalkowski and lots of nieces and nephews, all of whom were loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his sisters MaryJane (Makowski) and Marie (Clark), his granddaughter Amanda Mary Mento, many brother and sister in laws; and in-laws, Joseph and Mary Misutka. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2024, in THE CHARLES B.
