Polly Ann Christman, 89, of Springdale, cherished mother, grandmother and friend passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 13, 2017.  She joins her beloved husband of 64 years, James Christman, in everlasting peace.  Born February 18, 1928, Polly was a lifelong resident of Springdale Borough.  Polly was a devoted mother and is survived by her son, Jim Christman, and daughters Diana (Charlie) Robinson and Judy (Gary) Cowan.  She was the adored grandmother of Casey (Jerry), Jamie, Nathan (Morgan), Jessica (Brandon) and Jennifer, and great-grandmother of Kiana, Trey, Charlie, Trevor, Haleigh and Shane.

Polly loved gardening, collecting little knickknacks, feeding the birds, and baking (her pies and chocolate chip cookies compared to no other).  She had a compassion for all animals, especially dogs.  Polly loved watching the Pittsburgh Penguins and she never missed watching a game.  The family is so grateful that she got to see the Pens win back-to-back Stanley Cups.  Polly enjoyed watching the news, always wanting to be in the know…if the Pens weren’t on, CNN was.

But what Polly enjoyed most was spending time with her family.  When a loved one stopped by to visit, her smile would light up the room and her gracious hospitality always led her to ask, “Can I get you something?” Whether just sitting on the porch conversing with family and neighbors, or watching the grandchildren play in the yard, it made her so happy.  Polly was especially thankful to see her great-grandchildren grow up and share so many joyous memories.  She enjoyed the holidays, when so many family traditions were relished throughout the years.  The grandchildren can attest that there was nothing like Grandma’s house on New Year’s Eve.

Polly was proud of her family.  She once wrote in a card “I am fortunate to have a family like you.” For 89 years we were fortunate to have her and her love was truly a blessing.  Polly will greatly be missed but she provides all with a lifetime gift of love and memories that will truly never be forgotten.  A private memorial service for friends and family will be held at Deer Creek Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to Animal Protectors of Allegheny Valley, 533 Linden Ave. new Ken Pa. 15068.  www.jarviefuneralhome.com
