Lawrence Drapela, 81, of Indiana Township, passed away at home Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017. He was born Nov. 1, 1936, and has since been a lifelong resident of the Valley. Mr. Drapela graduated from trade school as a bricklayer and later went on to become a heavy equipment operator where he worked for AGI and Miles Construction for many years before retiring. He belonged to the 4H Club and formerly Walter's Chapel Church in Rural Ridge. He was a very hard worker, always providing for his family and taking excellent care of his late wife, Lois, before her passing in 2014. Surviving him are sons, Lawrence (Andrea) Drapela Jr., of Leechburg, and Randy (Karen) Drapela, of West Deer; daughter, Deborah (Scott) Bochek, of Cheswick; two grandchildren, Stephanie and Brandon Drapela; sisters, Nancy Gaiser, of Florida, Alice (Frank) Harkiewicz, of Sharpsburg, and Jane (John) Venneri, of Connellsville; brother, William (Elizabeth) Drapela, of Acme. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lois (Nye) Drapela; two sisters, Lilian Beacom and Helen Russell; and two brothers, Frank Jr. and Joseph Drapela. Mr. Drapela's family invites friends for visitation from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20, in THE CHARLES B.
