John B. Hafera, 96, of Harwick, passed away on Wednesday January 18, 2017.  He was born on March 8, 1920 to his parents, the late Paul and Veronica Papic Hafera and was a lifelong resident of the community. Mr. Hafera was a Patriot and served his country in The U. S. Army Air Corps. During WWII and he was a member to Our Lady of Victory Church in Harwick where he was a founding member.  He was an avid golfer, where he played in the 1948 U.S. Open.  John won multiple club championships at both Hillcrest and Butler Country Clubs.     John humbly worked with what he had been blessed and found peace in strengthening his relationship with his God and his family.  He was also an outdoorsman, carpenter, a fisherman, gardener, pitcher, patriot and golfer. John was especially devoted to his family and his Catholic faith.  Everything and everyone John touched, stand stronger today.

Sons John (Mari) Hafera Bethesda MD.

           James Hafera of Monroville         

          David Hafera Germantown MD.

Daughters Elaine ( Richard ) Thompson of Albuquerque New Mexico

           Marianne Hafera of Cheswick

          Amy Sue (Gary) Feger of Selbyville Delaware

3 Grandsons John C. Hafera of San Francisco CA, Joseph Hafera of Pawtucket Rhode Island, Richard Thompson of Burlingame Ca. Brother of Mary Matovick of Frazer Twp., Irene Brown of Harwick and a niece Nancy Brown of Harwick. John was preceded in death by his wife Susie Hafera, sister Josephine Wierzbicki and  brother Paul Hafera.

Family will receive friends on Friday January 20th from 2-4 & 6-8 pm in CHESWICK at the CHARLES B. JARVIE CHESWICK FUNERAL HOME INC. 1607 Pittsburgh Street. Christian Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10 Am. in Our Lady of Victory Church with the Rev. Alan E. Morris officiating. Burial will be in Deer Creek Cemetery Harmar Twp. . Memorial Contributions may be made to Our Lady of Victor Church 1319 Low Grade Road Harwick Pa 15049.
