Grant E. Karns Jr.

Grant E. “Toby” Karns Jr., 79, of Cheswick, passed away on Sunday January 22, 2017.  He was born on June 8, 1937 to his parents, the late Grant and Ruth Shaul Karns Sr. and has been a lifelong resident of our community.  Toby graduated from Springdale High School in 1955.  He enlisted on New Year’s Eve of 1955 and served his country in the U.S. Marines.  Mr. Karns belonged to the F&AM Masonic Lodge # 715 in Rush, Kentucky and enjoyed watching his Pittsburgh sports teams.  Toby worked for Trumbull where he eventually retired.  He never missed a chance to watch his kids play sports as they were growing up.  Now, he especially liked to watch his granddaughter Kylie, who was the light of his life, play softball and spend time with his family.  Surviving him are:

           Todd Karns of Cheswick

Granddaughter Kylie Karns

Sister Marlene Haggerty of Brackenridge

Brother James (Hope) Karns of Natrona Heights

Brother-in-laws Steve (Linda) Balogh of West Palm Fl.

                            Allen (Joanne) Balogh of Jupiter Fl.

As well as many nieces and nephews

Besides his parents he was also preceded in death by 1 brother James Karns.

Per Mr.  Karns wishes, visitation and services were private for immediate family.  Entombment was in Mt. Airy Cemetery.
